Terms of Service
Last updated: August 27, 2026
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") form an agreement between you and Doorfolk Media ("Doorfolk", "we", "us"), a business operating in Ontario, Canada. They apply to your use of doorfolkmedia.ca (the "Site") and to any advertising placement in our printed neighbourhood flyers (the "Flyer"). By using the Site or submitting an application, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
2. What we do
Doorfolk publishes a quarterly printed flyer distributed to homes within defined delivery divisions across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. Each edition features a limited number of paying local businesses, generally one per service category per division. Doorfolk is an advertising publisher only. We do not perform, supervise, guarantee, endorse, or warrant the services of any business featured in the Flyer.
3. Homeowners and readers
Information about featured businesses is provided for convenience and may change between editions. Any dealings you have with a featured business — including contracts, payments, workmanship, warranties and disputes — are solely between you and that business. We recommend verifying licensing, insurance and WSIB coverage before hiring any contractor. Your rights against a business under the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002 are unaffected by these Terms.
4. Business applications
Submitting an application is an expression of interest, not a booking. A placement is only confirmed once Doorfolk accepts your application in writing and, where applicable, payment terms are agreed. We may decline or withdraw any application at our discretion, including where a category is already filled, where required licensing cannot be evidenced, or where content is unlawful or misleading.
5. Advertiser obligations and content
- You confirm that all information you supply is accurate and that you hold every licence, certification and insurance required to operate your trade in Ontario.
- You grant Doorfolk a non-exclusive licence to reproduce your business name, logo, imagery and copy in the Flyer, on the Site and in related promotional material for the duration of your placement.
- You warrant that you own or are licensed to use that content and that it does not infringe third-party rights.
- Advertising must comply with applicable law, including the Competition Act, the Consumer Protection Act, 2002, and Canada's anti-spam legislation. Doorfolk may refuse or edit content that appears misleading, discriminatory, or unlawful.
- You indemnify Doorfolk against claims, losses and costs arising from the content you supply or the services you provide to readers.
6. Category exclusivity, fees and cancellation
Exclusivity, where offered, applies only to the specific category, division and edition stated in your written placement confirmation. It does not restrict Doorfolk from featuring similar businesses in other divisions or editions. Fees, artwork deadlines and payment schedules are set out in that confirmation. Fees are quoted in Canadian dollars and are subject to HST. Once an edition has gone to print, placements cannot be cancelled or refunded; cancellations before the stated artwork deadline are handled as described in your confirmation.
7. Distribution
Home counts and delivery areas are good-faith estimates. Delivery may be affected by weather, access restrictions, "no flyers" notices, and Canada Post or carrier conditions. Doorfolk does not guarantee that every individual household will receive an edition, nor any particular level of response, enquiries or sales.
8. Intellectual property
The Doorfolk Media name, logo, Site design, layouts and editorial content are owned by Doorfolk Media and protected under the Canadian Copyright Act and Trademarks Act. You may not reproduce them without written permission.
9. Liability
The Site is provided on an "as is" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by Ontario law, Doorfolk is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, including lost profits or business, arising from the Site, the Flyer, a printing or distribution error, or any dealing with a featured business. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid to Doorfolk for the placement giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002.
10. Privacy
Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
11. Governing law and changes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute. We may update these Terms from time to time; the "last updated" date above reflects the current version, and continued use of the Site means you accept the revised Terms.
